#30 Broadcasting Hockey Online

When we lived in Bremerton Washington, I had helped a friend who was broadcasting the junior hockey games for the team our boys were playing on. When his boys went to other teams, I had taken over the broadcast.

Over the next year I had started my online Blogspot for people to get logged in and watch live over the internet. My son, daughter and I built a press box above the sound booth to give a birds eye view of the ice surface.

With my wife operating the camera and myself doing play by play, Sports Stream Live
(www.sportsstreamlive.blogspot.com
became a reality. I had various people doing color commentary with me over a few years. Jeff Whalley was one in particular that had helped me for a long while. Jeff was a former member of the coaching staff and went on to become a lawyer.

Over the next few years doing the broadcasts, I had made some highlight videos from the games that I was broadcasting and posted them on my blog site.

During the time I ran Sports Stream Live, I had broadcast games for the Puget Sound Tomahawks, Seattle Totems and the University of Washington Huskies as well as many youth tournaments. I had the privilege and opportunity to reach people from all over the world, who in one way or another had an attachment to the players on the ice. It was an amazing experience for me knowing I could bring people closer together. I have some stories and memories from this time in my life that I will remember and cherish forever.

If you would like to hear some of my experiences, leave a comment and I will write back.

Broadcasting Hockey Online makes me happy.

#29 HELPING PEOPLE

Over the past 3 weeks I have had the opportunity to help some friends with hot water issues.

The water heater they had was on its last legs, but I was able to get it running again for them before I had to leave town for 2 weeks. Everything was working OK for a the time being. Then out of the blue I get a message telling me that the water heater finally crapped out for good.

Once I arrived back in town, I was able to go over and change out the water heater.
After the installation and the tank had warmed up, I headed home.

The next day, I received the following text.

"Thanks again for the help with the hot water tank first time I've had to add cold water to my shower in a couple years,I forgot how hot it's supposed to be 😂"

I think there are many things in the life that we just take for granted. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to help out some friends. They have helped us in the past and I know that these friends would bend over backwards to help others, no questions asked.

Helping friends makes me happy

#28 SEEING MY DAUGHTER SUCCEED

It has been just over a year since I have been on.
I wrote this post and left it as a draft. In the past few weeks I have been getting back on track with things, so here goes.

This past year has been busy in our life. My daughter had been soul searching to find direction in her life, a new job, a place to live on her own and spread her wings. In the fall she was accepted to a specialty school for women. This was a 5 month course for an introduction to trades. She was also given a scholarship for the course (which made us proud as parents) and during the course she submitted an assignment on why she was taking the course and what sacrifices she had to work through to make it happen. This assignment also won her a cash prize for the paper. She met with the supervisor and was more less given instructions for her first day rather than an interview.

In the last week of school they had interviews with potential employers. Once she had completed the course and returned home, she went to work at 2 jobs that she had previously been employed at so she could survive until a job presented itself in the field she desired. Over the next few weeks she received a offer for employment from one of the companies. As she was contemplating accepting this position, she was contacted for an interview with the company that was her first choice. She met with the supervisor and was more less given instructions for her first day rather than an interview.

Although it took a few weeks for the actual hiring process, she has since been through 2 weeks of training and is now in actual work mode. She is enjoying her new job and gets along with her co-workers, which I am very happy that all my children have such a wonderful character about them.

Good luck to my daughter for her future and may she achieve all that she sets out to do.

Seeing my daughter succeed makes me happy.
